Create New Chat and Group Chat

This guide provides instructions on how to create a new chat and start a group chat within the DigiMEDSPA Portal. In our portal, chats can occur between providers, employees, and users in any combination, such as provider-provider, provider-patient, employee-employee, employee-provider, user-employee, and user-provider. However, patient-to-patient chats are not allowed.

Understanding Terminologies

New Chat

A one-on-one conversation initiated between two users within the portal, such as between a provider and a patient, or between an employee and a provider.

Group Chat

A conversation involving three or more participants, allowing users to collaborate and communicate in a shared space. Group chats can include multiple providers, employees, users, and patients.

Create New Chat

  1. The user can create a new chat by accessing “Chat” in the Communication Apps accessible from three entry points.
    1. From the EMR Board, click “Chat” in the Top Menu Navigation.
    2. From the EMR Board, click “Apps” in the Top Menu Navigation to access the applications.
      1. Navigate to the Communication Apps and click on “Chat.”
    3. From the Left Navigation, click on the “Communication Apps” dropdown menu, and select “Chat.’’Alternatively, you can type “Chat” into the search bar in the Left Navigation.
  2. To start a new chat, click on the “+New Chat” button in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Enter the name of the user you want to chat with.

  4. Once you've selected the user you want to chat with, type your message and click the arrow icon on the right to send it.
    Note: To attach a document or file in the chat, click the file icon next to the arrow icon, then select the desired file from your device.
  5. Your sent message will appear in the chat window, and the conversation will be listed on the left side of the screen.
    Note: Click the refresh icon at the top right of the chat window to reload the messages.
    The new chat has been successfully created!

Create Group Chat

  1. To start a group chat, click on the “+Group Chat” button in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Enter a Group Name for the chat then search for and select the users to add.

  3. Select multiple users for the group chat, and once you've chosen all the users, click the “Create Group Chat” button to start the chat.
  4. Once you've created the group chat, type your message and click the arrow icon on the right to send it.
    The group chat has been successfully created!
