Onboarding refers to guiding and equipping a new user or professional with the necessary tools, information, and system access required to begin using a service or performing their role efficiently.
- EPCS Prescriber
An EPCS prescriber is a licensed healthcare provider authorized to electronically prescribe controlled substances using a certified Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) system. This process ensures prescriptions are transmitted securely and in compliance with federal and state regulations, particularly those enforced by the DEA.
Onboarding of EPCS Prescriber

In Step 1, the prescriber will enter their Personal NPI number, review and agree to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Code of Conduct by checking the box, then complete the reCAPTCHA. Click “Next” to proceed to Step 2.
Note“NPI Number (National Provider Identifier),” is a unique 10-digit number assigned to healthcare providers in the U.S. by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), used for identification in billing and other HIPAA-compliant healthcare transactions. -
In Step 3, provide the Personal NPI, State License, and DEA numbers. Once all information is entered, click “Next” to proceed.
NoteA “State License” is an official authorization issued by a state medical or professional board, allowing a healthcare provider to legally practice within that specific state. A “DEA Number” is a unique identifier assigned by the Drug Enforcement Administration to authorized healthcare providers, permitting them to prescribe, dispense, or administer controlled substances.
